Sundown Dancers Square Dance Club
Co-Founded by, Ted & Helen Hecke and Fred & Linda Soetaert.
First Presidents were Dave & Linda Carey.
The first lesson was held on September 23, 1981 with caller Bob Osborn, but later was
taken over by graduated by Jim Booton.
The first dance was held on Wednesday, March 3rd, 1982 and Jim Booton called the first official dance at the Spring Hill Middle School. The Sundown Dancers became a member of the Heart of America Federation after a visit from HOA Officers Bob & Terry
Morgan.
Some members who danced with the club were Fred & Linda Soetaert, Ted & Helen Hecke, Dave & Linda Carey, Rick & Joan Beckwith, Charlie & Donna Valizan, Mel & Mary Cleary, Fred & Carolyn Goucher, Brent & Janice Crust, Mike & Mary Ingle, Godon Riley, Martin Rosey, Merrle & Mary Morton, Jim Newell, Frank & Janeen Harra, Raymond & Linda Vail, Bill & Cricket Lutz, Bob & Lorette LovellAl & Norma Beatty, Dick Duer, Virginia Kern, Clarence & Glennis Paulsen, Steve & Lynn Duer, Jaci Miller, Kevin & Kim Mustin and Lawrence & Katrina Guenther.
Jim Booton continued to call for the club for a few more years. When he retired, the
Club hired Dick Naudet to be the caller. Their dances were held of Friday nights.
Bill roles took over the club for the last two years of the club in 1991. As presidents of
The club for the last two years, Rick & Joan Beckwith along with other club members made the decision to close the club. Thanks to Linda Soetaert who made most of this
information possible.
On Friday, May 7th 1993, the Sundowners held their last dance.
