Pistols 'N' Petticoats

In the summer of 1968, at Gladstone City Park, a meeting was held by a few dedicated couples to discuss the formation of a new square dance club. From that meeting the Pistols ?N? Petticoats Square Dance Club was born with a membership of about 20 couples.

The Club first danced at Faubion Methodist Church. Later in our first year, we moved to Clay Platte YWCA in North Kansas City; and after a few years moved to a more spacious hall at Barry Middle School. Over the years, the Club has had only 3 callers - our first being Bobby Lightfoot, who was followed by Keith Thomas. Our current caller is Jay Krebs who started with the Club in the fall of 1990.

At present, the Club membership numbers 60 couples, and 4 of those couples were on our original roster. As well as hosting our dances and maintaining a very active visitation program, the Pistols 'N' Petticoats over the years have participated in food drives, Toys For Tots, Bears on Patrol, as well as benefits for our own couples in need.
