Fishing River Squares

The Fishing River Squares were formed on September, 1998 and became federated on January 3, 1999. There were 16 members who started the club. As of April, 2002, the club grew to 20 members.

We have promoted square dancing at the Lewis & Clark School in Liberty. We have danced at the Waterfest Festival in Excelsior Springs in September since 1999. We attended the Missouri State Dance in Jefferson City in 1999, and again in Lebanon Missouri in 2000 and 2001. We have attended all the Federation Dances since we became federated. We became members of the Northwest District since 1999. We have entertained at the Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Dance nights for the Fishing River Squares has been the fourth Saturday of each month. We dance at a mainstream level with lines between tips. The last dance location for us was the G.L. "Jud" Palmar Community Center in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

The callers for the Fishing River Squares since it began were Gene Pitts and Terry Hughes.
